The plan sets act as blueprints that include the basic structural, electrical, and geographic information of a solar installation. Plan sets are crucial in the residential and commercial solar permitting process in the United States. They allow visualizing how the system will look and provide a detailed plan of solar installation. Solar installers are required to submit plan sets to the AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) of the respective states in order to obtain building and electrical approval for solar installations.
